Welfare Rights Advisor

Profile

I have been a Welfare Rights Advisor with CALMS since 2010. I have been working in the community sector over 20 years in various fields from project worker to project management. Ive been heavily active in fighting for social justice for the vulnerable and unemployed in society and was involved in and led some campaigns fighting for social justice issues. I was the first chairman of Unite Community membership in the city and led a large campaign for suicide awareness and fundraising for various bodies involved.

As part of my job role, I assist with universal credit advice and help, PIP forms, ESA forms, Student forms, housing issues and general benefit advice, help and representation.

I have been involved in welfare rights now over 10 years and also had major success as a tribunal representative in that time. I achieved my WRAP qualification and tribunal representation qualification 10 years ago and have also trained other advisers in Belfast from both sides of the divide. In that time I have helped thousands of clients get the benefits they are entitled to and helped ease the stress of living in such times of austerity.

My qualifications include:

  • OCN Level 3 Welfare Rights Advice
  • OCN Level 4 Tribunal Representative.

I enjoy sports and spending quality time with family.
